An Anniston man arrested on two separate felony charges
allegedly broke into an Anniston woman’s home as he fled from officers in
November. 23 year old Timothy Lamar
McCauley, is now in the Calhoun county jail charged with second-degree receipt
of stolen property and third-degree burglary. He also faces four misdemeanor
charges including possession of marijuana, resisting arrest and attempting to
elude officers. Anniston police say on Nov. 21, two officers saw McCauley
walking on Walnut Street. The officers
recognized McCauley and knew there was a warrant for his arrest. When the officers attempted to detain him,
McCauley ran and entered a home on West 22 Street. When officers entered the home to look for
McCauley, they saw him trying to escape through a rear window. When he failed
to get out of the window, he tried to escape through the back door, which he
knocked down. During his arrest police said McCauley would not cooperate with
officers, refusing to give them his hands. The officers also found a bag
containing marijuana on the floor.
Police say the initial warrant for McCauley’s arrest involved an
incident in which McCauley fled from another officer in September. The officer
tried to stop McCauley for not wearing his seatbelt as he drove down Walnut
Street. McCauley drove away from the officer, and after a brief chase, crashed
his silver Ford Thunderbird into a vehicle parked at Norwood Homes. When McCauley ran from the officer on foot,
the officer inspected McCauley’s vehicle and discovered a Glock handgun on the
floorboard. The gun had been reported
stolen in September.
