Gadsden police are trying to find the suspect who robbed an
87-year-old man who asked for directions after getting lost on his way home. Police
say the victim was driving home from a bowling alley in Rainbow City when he
got lost around 6 p.m. on Friday, evening. He pulled over at 14th Street and
Walnut Street to figure out where to go next when a man walked up and asked if
he could help. According to Captain
Bobby Jackson, the victim asked the man for directions and the man told him he
would need to see some identification. When the 87-year-old man pulled out his
wallet, the suspect took it and ran away. Police say the victim had about $300
in his wallet. Police are still
investigating the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Gadsden
Police Department.
