Governor addesses Etowah Republicans

Governor Robert Bentley made a stop in Gadsden Tuesday evening where he served as the keynote speaker at the Etowah County Republican Party dinner.  The governor told the group that Congress should look to the states and their governors to stop implementation of the Affordable Care Act.   The governor joined the party in honoring former Congressman Jim Martian, who many credit with starting the modern Republican Party movement in Alabama.
Bentley said he was “a little concerned” about the recent federal government shutdown, which he attributed to the Affordable Care Act, because he did not want to turn public opinion against opponents of the legislation More than 500 people attended the annual fundraiser.
