Gadsden council approves funds for traffic improvements for new development



The Gadsden City Council approved funding T  The council approved spending up to $200,000 in Tax Increment Financing District funds to finance its portion of the project that will make modifications to the existing signal-controlled intersection. The goal is to improve traffic flow from Meighan and Sixth Street to an entrance to the development.  The city's portion of the funding will be matched with the same amount from the developer, Blackwater Development, and the Grissom family, which owns the property. Tax Increment Financing District funds are increases in ad valorem taxes from districts that are earmarked for improvements in the district.
