Police investigate Halloween assault

Gadsden police are investigating the Halloween robbery of a 19 year old Gadsden man.  Police say A man wearing a monkey mask and wielding a knife robbed the 19-year-old man of his scooter and laptop Halloween night.  The victim told officers he was traveling home about 8:30 Thursday night when his scooter cut off near the intersection of Hickory Street and Centre Avenue. As he was working on the scooter, he saw a man in a monkey mask walking down Hickory Street and approaching him.  The masked man initially didn't seem suspicious, as it was Halloween, and asked the victim if he needed any help. The victim said no, but the masked man walked very close and asked again. The victim pushed the masked man away because he was so close, and the masked man pulled a knife and swung it at him, cutting his left forearm.  The victim fell to the ground and the robber left on his black scooter, which also had his laptop on it. The victim walked to his girlfriend's house on Hickory Street and called the police.  Officers began to patrol the area to try and find the suspect, and saw a black scooter in a church parking lot on Emmanuel Street. Police notified the victim and he identified the scooter and the laptop, which was still there, as his.
