Man charged with sex crimes

The Etowah County Sheriff's Office says they have charged a man on the charges of sodomy, rape and incest.  Investigators says 40-year-old James Claude Graggs III raped and sodomized a female family member when she was 9-years-old. At this time, the victim is 18-years-old. The abuse took place in different locations in Etowah and St. Clair Counties. Graggs was arrested in St. Clair County for first degree sexual abuse and failure to comply with the Sex Offender Notification Act. He is being held in the St. Clair County Jail with no bond. Etowah County authorities have charged Graggs with one county first degree rape, one count of first degree sodomy and one count of incest. His bond has been set at $150,000 cash.
