A Calhoun County grand jury has indicted an Anniston mother
in the death of her infant son. Sergeant
First Class Katherine Papke was arrested by Anniston Police after her
4-month-old son died Aug. 9. She is charged with manslaughter. Papke says she
accidentally left her baby in her vehicle after forgetting to drop him off at
daycare. She discovered him in the car while she was at work at Fort
McClellan. Defense attorney Jim
Sturdivant says they are disappointed by the news. Sgt. Papke is scheduled to
be arraigned on the charges Dec. 19th.
