Gadsden Police investigating separate shooting incidents

Police say A Gadsden man was shot several times early Wednesday morning, after what he told police might have been an attempted robbery.  Police say The 20-year-old victim was inside a vehicle with a man and woman about 1:25 a.m., when the man pulled out a gun and shot him once while the vehicle was stopped on McGuire Street. The shooting victim got out of the car and ran, turning right on Barnes Avenue, where the man fired at him again. A witness said the injured man turned left onto Pettit Street and the suspect fired several more shots at him there, hitting him several times until he fell in the middle of the street. The victim, who was airlifted to UAB Hospital by LifeFlight, told police the gun used to shoot him might have been his gun, which was stolen.

Gadsden police are investigating  a report from A 27-year-old man who said he was shot in the back during a confrontation with an unknown man outside his residence on Litchfield Avenue, but he refused to go to the hospital for treatment.
The man said he was behind his house when a white male and white female walked up the alley to his driveway. He said he didn’t know the man, but recognized the woman from her place of employment. The man said, “I heard you were trying to mess with my girl,” and pulled out a handgun and fired one shot at the victim, striking him in the back.
The couple got into a silver car, and drove away.
When police and fire medics arrived, the victim refused treatment and refused to press charges. According to the police report, medics tried to talk him into going to the hospital and ended up covering his wounds and getting him to sign a videotaped release regarding his refusal.
Police recovered a shell casing and a live round at the end of his driveway and logged it into evidence.
