15 area High School Football teams officially are
playoff bound after the Alabama High School Athletic Association released the
first-round pairings late Friday night.
Class 7A, Region 4 champion Gadsden City will get a rematch
with Hewitt-Trussville for its first-round opponent. Southside, the 6A, Region
7 winner, will host Pinson Valley, and Etowah will travel to face 5A, Region 6
runner-up Mortimer Jordan. Undefeated Glencoe, the 3A, Region 6 winner, will
host Sylvania, and Sardis will travel to face 4A, Region 7 champion Oneonta.
Class 2A, Region 7 runner-up Gaston will host Cold Springs.
In 1A, Spring Garden will host Marion County. Another
undefeated team, Fyffe, the 2A, Region 7 winner, will host Tarrant. Two 3A area
teams on Sand Mountain begin the playoffs at home with Plainview hosting Weaver
and Geraldine welcoming Walter Wellborn.
Boaz will travel to face 5A, Region 6 champion Lincoln,
while 6A, Region 7 runner-up Fort Payne will host Gardendale, a team they lost
to 41-7 on the road earlier in the season.
