Governor will name replacement for Etowah Judge in timely manner

Gov. Robert Bentleys office has said a replacement for retiring Etowah County District Judge William Russell will be named in a “timely manner.”
Russell announced his retirement earlier this month, effective Jan. 1. He’s serving his fourth term on the bench, which will end in January 2017.
Bentley’s press secretary, Yasamie R. August, said people interested in the position can submit information to appointments@governor.alabama.gov or call 334-242-3300.
According to the Administrative Office of Courts the starting salary for a district judge is $118,948.50.
The Etowah County Republican Executive Committee has recommended party Chairman Joe Nabors for the post.
Nabors. a former captain for the Alabama Bureau of Investigation, is the executive director of the Calhoun/Cleburne Children’s Center, a children’s advocacy center in Anniston.
