Calhoun County Sheriff Larry Amerson says his department "will take immediate action" against any gambling establishments in the county.
In a one paragraph statement released Thursday, Amerson said that the state's laws dealing with gambling and lotteries have not changed.
Amerson said The Sheriff's Office will take immediate action for search warrants to close down any video or other gambling establishments within the boundaries of Calhoun County.
Last month, deputies seized 20 video gaming machines at an Alexandria business after an investigation. And this month, Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin warned that his office would also be on the lookout for gaming machines.
