Jody Willoughby |
More than two weeks after his name was submitted to the
governor’s office by the Executive Committee of the Etowah County Republican
Party as its sole recommendation to fill the district attorney’s office,
Attorney Jody Willoughby learned Friday that he’d received the
appointment. The death last month of
Etowah County District Attorney Jimmie Harp left a vacancy in the office.
Supernumerary district attorney James Hedgspeth has been acting district
attorney since Harp’s death. The executive committee met in the week after
Harp’s death and recommended Willoughby for the appointment. Willoughby has served as municipal judge in
Southside and Glencoe, and as special prosecutor in some municipal court cases.
