Gadsden Man arrested following break-in

Gadsden police arrested A Gadsden man Thursday morning following a reported burglary at a Forrest Avenue residence.
Police were called to the home on Forrest Avenue about 1 a.m. after a woman told dispatchers her ex-boyfriend had pulled up at the residence and she was afraid he was going to break in. She said he had been harassing her over the phone and that she'd already filed a domestic violence report on him through the Attalla Police Department.
She told dispatchers the man was armed, and that he'd said anyone who came to the residence “would leave in a body bag.”
Dispatchers heard the woman scream, then the phone connection was broken.
As police arrived, the woman came running out of the residence, saying the ex was inside with her current boyfriend and was going to kill him. She said he told her to go outside and tell police nothing was wrong. She said her current boyfriend was hiding somewhere in the house; she was not sure where.
Two officers went in the front door and another went to the back of the house. The two officers made contact with the ex-boyfriend in the hallway, holding what looked like a tire pipe. They got him on the floor, according to the police report, as he kept yelling at his ex-girlfriend and not listening to officers.
After he was placed under arrest, officers searched the rest of the house and found the current boyfriend hiding under a bed. He said he hid because he was scared the man would kill him.
