Talladega selects new Manager

William Patrick Bryant, of Santa Clarita, California, will be Talladega’s next city manager.

Bryant was one of four candidates for the job interviewed over the last two weeks, and the first vote Wednesday resulted in a 2-2-1 deadlock.

Councilman Horace Patterson said, “Any one of them could do the job. They all appear committed, they have enough education and experience. It’s not any one single thing, but … Bryant seemed to have the most budgeting experience.

The next step will be to negotiate a contract, which will be drawn up by the city’s attorney and approved by the council before it is formally offered.

Members of the council were encouraged to write notes about what should be included or excluded in the contract

The council will likely hold another called meeting sometime next week to approve the new contract.
