Altoona man charged in check forgery

An Altoona man has been arrested and charged in connection with the theft of a box of personal checks.  Authorities say that 36 year old Donny Brian Putman is charged with one felony count of second-degree possession of a forged instrument.  Putman allegedly forged and cashed a check in the amount of $484.54 at a local bank. He also cashed three forged checks at a store in Oneonta. The victim has filed a report with the Oneonta Police Department concerning the incident.

Putman was booked into the Etowah County Detention Center and released on $2,500 property bond.
