Gadsden council revokes liquor license

Citing recent arrests and apparent criminal activity, the Gadsden City Council Tuesday revoked the liquor license for Bama Quick Stop No. 2.
Law enforcement officials obtained a warrant, searching the store on Tuscaloosa Ave. June 17. Several arrest warrants were obtained for Moaen Hanna Hegazen, the store’s owner.
Council President Deverick Williams said there had been felony crimes on the premises, including possession and distribution of controlled substances, which gave the council reason to believe criminal activity has been occurring at the business.
Under the city ordinance, that is grounds for revocation of liquor license privileges granted by the city. The motion passed unanimously.
