Leesburg mayor killed by bulldozer

Leesburg’s Mayor, Ed Mackey, was killed at his home on Thursday morning by a bulldozer.

According to Cherokee County Coroner, Jeremy Deaton, Mackey was working on the machine around 10:30 a.m. when it somehow became engaged and pulled him underneath.

The mayor’s son found him under the bulldozer. Preliminary investigation revealed that Mackey died from multiple blunt force trauma.
