Anniston police officer fired over alleged ties to hate group

The city of Anniston has fired a police supervisor over ties to what has been described as a neo-Confederate group that believes the South should leave the United States.  Anniston officials held a news conference Friday to announce the dismissal of Lt. Josh Doggrell and the retirement of Lt. Wayne Brown.  The move came days after the Southern Poverty Law Center in Montgomery published an article saying both men are members of the League of the South.  The organization advocates a second secession by states of the old Confederacy. While the League describes itself as a Southern nationalist organization, the southern poverty law center calls it a hate group.
