Troopers closed two of three westbound lanes for a little over an hour before reopening the interstate shortly after 3 p.m. Troopers report that 36-year-old Tawana Whitaker of Birmingham was pronounced dead at the scene. A press release from Senior Trooper Reginal King stated she was not wearing a seat belt.  Edward Chas Gladney, 65, also of Birmingham was not hurt.
