Etowah deputy injured in saturday wreck

An Etowah County Sheriff’s deputy was injured Saturday when her patrol car was struck from behind on U.S. Highway 431 just north of Attalla.
Deputy Brandi Womack was on patrol and slowing to make a right turn onto Sand Valley Road when a woman driving a Nissan Altima struck the patrol car in the rear.  A pickup truck towing a trailer loaded with a lawn mower also was slowing to turn right, and Womack’s patrol car struck the trailer.
Womack was taken by ambulance to the hospital, but she was later released.
No other injuries were reported.
Alabama State Troopers are investigating the wreck.
