Boaz woman killed after driving car off side of Sand Mountain

Authorities say a Boaz woman died Tuesday night after her vehicle crashed through a guard rail and off the side of Sand Mountain.  37 year old Kerrie Breedlove, died in a single-vehicle accident about 7 p.m. Deputy Etowah County  Coroner Michael Head said Breedlove was driving on Rockledge Road and drove straight across all four lanes of U.S. Highway 431 and through a guard rail, crashing her vehicle at the bottom of the mountain. Head said the vehicle traveled 375 feet in the air and down the mountain.  It took authorities about five hours to recover Breedlove's body. Authorities had to rappel down the mountain from the guard rail near U.S. Highway 431 while also sending off-road vehicles up Sand Valley Road to attempt to reach the wreckage that way. A helicopter from the Marshall County Sheriff's Office hovered over the recovery operations to provide light as well.  Attalla, Sand Valley and Mountainboro fire departments all responded to the wreck, along with Alabama State Troopers and the Marshall County High End Rescue Team.  The vehicle was recovered late Wednesday morning.
