Body of missing Georgia man found



Authorities in Georgia say the body of an 80 year old man whom authorities had believed may have been traveling near Anniston after being reported missing on mothers day was found Wednesday. Jimmy Wilkerson was last seen leaving his home on Little Vine Church Road in Villa Rica, Ga., on May 11, family members told police, driving his 1982 Chevrolet S-10 truck.  Police found Wilkerson's body alongside a logging road and power line in Douglas County, Ga., the county just northwest of the man’s home wednesday. Authorities say It appeared that his truck had become stuck, and that Wilkerson had tried to walk out of the area.  Wilkerson was traveling with his white Maltese dog, Bebe, when he disappeared. The dog was found by his owner’s side. The dog was in need of medical treatment from what appeared to be other animal bites. Wilkerson has family living in the Anniston area, and police believed he may have been on his way to visit them the day he disappeared, Richards said. Wilkerson’s mother is buried at Oak Bowery Cemetery in Ohatchee as well, he said.  Authorities said There were no signs of foul play, and Wilkerson’s remains were taken to a Georgia Bureau of Investigations crime lab for examination.
