Body of drowning victim recovered

Authorities recovered the body of a Talladega man who was last seen alive when he dove off a boat and into the logan martin lake Saturday night.  St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department Undersheriff Billy Murray said rescue workers found 49 year old Kent Wesley Franklin, of Talladega near the mouth of Rabbit Branch on Logan Martin Lake Monday afternoon.   Authorities had searched the lake Saturday night and Sunday.  Murray said the victim was with five other adults and a juvenile when he dove off the boat and into the water.   He said people on the boat heard him making a couple of noises in the water, but could not locate Franklin and called 911. Murray said the incident happened about 9:30 p.m. Saturday. Murray said rescue personnel used sonar and cadaver dogs in the search for Franklin. The area where Franklin’s body was found was near the main river channel.Murray said alcohol was involved in the incident.
