Gadsden robbery suspect arrested

Jawan Mikell "Nook" Taylor

A 20 year old man has been arrested by Gadsden police following a robbery and scuffle Thursday at an apartment on North Sixth Place.
The apartment's 29-year-old resident told police he responded to a knock at the back door about 11:30 a.m. to find a man pointing a gun at him. He said the robber put the gun to his head and said, “Give me all your money and all your electronic equipment.”
A witness at the residence hit the robber over the head with a baseball bat, and told police he was hit in the head with the gun as they struggled for it. The robber grabbed an iPad and ran out the back door, leaving the gun behind, on the floor by the TV.
The suspect was wearing a black hoodie and black mask covering his mouth, and was known to someone at the residence by the nickname “Nook.”
Officers with the U.S. Marshals Service recognized the nickname. People at the scene were able to identify the suspect by a photo produced by the federal officers, who were looking for the same suspect in connection with another robbery, with a modus operandi similar to the one used Thursday.
Jawan Mikell “Nook” Taylor was taken into custody Thursday and booked into the Etowah County Detention
Center for first-degree robbery, third-degree assault and misdemeanor possession of salvia.
