Heflin Police make two drug arrests

Heflin police made two drug trafficking arrests in two separate incidents Wednesday.
Chief A.J. Benefield said officers conducting a traffic stop Wednesday night about 7:10 p.m. arrested Murphy Hal Turner-Scott after they smelled an odor of raw marijuana through the driver's side window.
After a search, the officers found 13.5 pounds of marijuana. The man was arrested for drug trafficking, with bond set at $1 million.
The other arrest came after a traffic stop in response to a reckless driving call. Benefield said a vehicle was traveling in both lanes of the road at excessive speeds.
The driver, Jeremy Fassina, had felony warrants through the Shelby County Sheriff's Office. Inside the vehicle, officers found computers, debit cards and narcotics.
Fassina has been charged with drug trafficking, drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bonds are in excess of $1 million.
