Oxford man sentenced in stabbing of girlfriend

Randall O'Keith Morgan Jr.

A 24 year old Oxford man has received two 20-year prison sentences for stabbing his former girlfriend 17 times and stealing a city bus in 2013.
Those sentences could be suspended, however, if a judge orders probation at a February hearing, according to Calhoun County Circuit Judge Debra Jones.
Jones sentenced Randall O’Keith Morgan Jr. to 20 years in prison for first-degree domestic violence and 20 years for first-degree theft, related to the theft of the bus. Those sentences are to run concurrently.
Morgan was arrested on Oct. 21, 2013 and indicted by a grand jury in March 2014 on charges of first-degree assault, first-degree theft and first-degree kidnapping.  Court records show that prosecutors dropped that kidnapping charge as part of Morgan’s agreement to plead guilty to the theft and domestic violence charges.
Morgan stabbed his girlfriend, Katherine Pope, while on a Calhoun County Areawide Community Transportation System bus on Oct. 21, 2013.
Morgan remains in the Calhoun County Jail. His probation hearing is set for Feb. 19th..
Judge Jones said that if Morgan’s probation is denied he is to begin serving his two 20-year prison sentences.
