A Sylacauga man was sentenced to more than 15 years in
prison Tuesday after pleading guilty to sodomy in the first degree.
49 year old Jimmy Leon Smith, was sentenced to 190 months in prison by
Talladega County Circuit Judge Julian King. A count of sodomy in the second
degree was dismissed.
Smith was charged with forcing himself sexually on a young
boy between the ages of 12 and 16 over a period of time in 2012.
Smith was also sentenced to 15 years in prison after
pleading to sexual abuse in the first degree against the same victim in Shelby
County. He was arrested by Sylacauga Police in November 2012 while being held
in Shelby County on the abuse charge.
