Teen faces hearing in death of Albertville teen

A teenaged boy  will face a hearing to determine whether he will be tried as an adult in connection with the shooting death of Albertville teenager Jason Richards. 18 year old Ryan Anthony Fitch,  of Horton, was arrested Tuesday and has been charged with criminally negligent homicide, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with physical evidence,. He was held on $90,000 bond.  Authorities said the juvenile involved in the incident could face similar charges. He surrendered to police and will remain in custody until an adjudication hearing. No date has been set for that hearing. Richards, a 15 year old  Albertville Middle School student, was reported missing in February. His body was discovered in May on Lois Lane in the Langston community. He died from a single gunshot wound to the head, apparently suffered the night he disappeared.  According to a press release from Albertville police, Fitch accidentally shot Richards, then he and the juvenile, who also was present, panicked and disposed of his body rather than calling for help. The three boys were friends, according to police, and they do not believe the shooting was intentional.
