The Anniston branch of a foundry furnace repair and parts
manufacturer will expand within the next year, leading to more jobs at the
plant,.
Electric Melting Services Company’s Anniston facility in the
industrial park off Greenbrier Dear Road will add about 19,000 square feet of
workspace in 2016. Company officials say That will allow the company to
increase production of specialized water cooling systems used in electric
metal-melting furnaces and to nearly double its workforce as a result.
The additional work means more jobs in Anniston: The company
will hire 14 more employees to staff the facility’s new research and design and
manufacturing wing, which is set to open next May. The company currently has 19 employees.
Headquartered in Massillon, Ohio, the company has two other
facilities besides Anniston’s: one in Pico Rivera, Calif., and the other in
Rancocas, N.J.
Anniston’s Industrial Development Authority through the City
Council offered an incentive to seal the deal — abatement for 10 years of all
sales, use, and property taxes on materials, equipment, and land involved in
the expansion.
