Suspect in custody in Clay County murder

A 20-year-old Shelby County man has been charged with murder in a homicide that happened off of a trail in the Cheaha Mountain area near the state park.  The crime took place in Clay County just off the Pinhoti Trail near Cheaha State Park, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office was notified about the homicide around 6 p.m. Sunday. Several agencies responded to the scene because they were uncertain of the exact location.  Investigators say Loren Daniel Bunner, from Vincent, has been charged with murder in the case. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office has not yet released any information about the victim. Bunner is being held on a $150,000 bond in the Clay County Detention Center.
