A 45 year old Etowah County man was arrested Thursday and
charged in connection with sexual abuse of a minor. Rodney Ray Whitmore, of Attalla, is charged
with one count of sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old and one count
of first-degree sodomy.
Both are felonies.
Whitmore allegedly sexually abused a female victim for several months in various
locations. The case against the suspect came about when the abuse was reported
by a school administrator. He is being detained in the Etowah County Detention
Center on $100,000 cash bond.
