On July 17, Cherokee deputies and the Cherokee County Major
Crimes Unit responded to the robbery and assault of a woman in her Gaylesville
home. Several items were taken. Within a
couple of days, 24 year old Jeffery L. Epps, of Gaylesville, and 27 year old Brandie N. Webb, of Fyffe, were arrested and
charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree assault.
Just hours after the crime occurred, two other suspects fled
to New York. When investigators learned of their whereabouts, they contacted
the United States Marshals Service for assistance. The USMS found and arrested
Miller and Steele and they were returned to Alabama. They were booked Wednesday
into the Cherokee County Detention Center.
Epps remains in the Cherokee County Detention Center, and
Webb is out on bond awaiting trial.
