Anniston man charged after chase

A 43 year old Anniston man is facing multiple charges after leading Anniston police on a chase thru the city which involved at least 15 officers. Anniston police could not say Thursday afternoon where the chase began or how long it lasted, but patrol officers, investigators, deputies with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and officials with the Calhoun-Cleburne County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force were involved.  The chase ended with the arrest of Arthur McCluney, at the corner of F Street and South Leighton Avenue.  McCluney is accused of attempting to elude police officers, running a stop sign, and driving with a suspended license.    McCluney also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest from Bibb County for a probation violation.  McCluney took off after a patrol officer attempted to pull over the red Chevy pickup truck he was driving for running a stop sign. McCluney led the officers on a chase through southeastern Anniston, including South Quintard, Christine and Leighton avenues.
