Man arrested in theft of vintage mustang

A 24 year old Childersburg man is facing  up to 20 years in prison, after being charged Wednesday with two felony counts in connection with the theft of a vintage Mustang from a storage unit.  Courtney Donae Jones has been  charged with one count each of first-degree theft of property and third-degree burglary.  The $50,000 white-and-blue 1965 Ford Mustang GT350 2+2 was stolen from a storage unit on U.S. 280 Jan. 20 between and was recovered the next day on Ferry Road.  Jones was arrested last Saturday night, when police were called to a fight at a pool hall on Third Street.  He had earlier been identified as a suspect in the Mustang theft, and was arrested at the pool hall on a misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear in court on a municipal case.  Police say that Jones has confessed to stealing the car and pulling it to the dead end where it was found. Talladega County District Judge Jeb Fannin set Jones’ bond at $20,000.
