Gadsden man charged after counterfiet money found in his vehicle

A 31 year old Gadsden man was arrested during a traffic stop Monday night after officers discovered counterfeit money in his car.  Jermain Fitzpatrick, was charged with first-degree possession of a forged instrument after police allegedly found $1,000 in counterfeit $20 bills in the passenger side of his car.  Fitzpatrick was stopped about 11:17 p.m. Monday night on Hoke Street for having a headlight out. As police were writing him tickets for the headlight and driving without a license, they learned he had five outstanding warrants, and he was arrested.  A passenger in Fitzpatrick’s car, a 28-year-old man, was patted down for weapons, his information was taken down and he was sent home.  Fitzpatrick was taken to the Etowah County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond. Police are still investigating the other man.
