Salespeople in the city of weaver would need three licenses
to solicit door-to-door if the City Council passes an ordinance regulating such
sales. Weaver police Chief Wayne Bush
presented the council Tuesday night with an updated draft of an ordinance that
would require door-to-door salespeople to have a valid business license with
the city. The city license, which would cost $20, would be in addition to
licenses salespeople need from Calhoun County and the state to sell
door-to-door. The city’s ordinance is
based on the county’s law, which state lawmakers passed in 2013. The county
requires all door-to-door salespeople to register with the county, and carry
identification on them and their vehicle. The identification must also contain
the name of the company they work with. Weaver Mayor Wayne Willis said he hopes
to pass the measure at the next council meeting at the end of the month.
