The murder trial of a 38 year old Anniston man is underway
in Calhoun county. Torrance Perin
Vincent, is charged with capitol murder in the Dec. 15, 1999, shooting death of
20 year old Prince Damian Wright, of
Weaver. A Calhoun County grand jury in
2008 indicted Vincent and Durieal Dwan Brooks, of Eastaboga, on capital murder
charges in Wright’s death, which occurred during a home robbery. Police allege
that three armed men entered the back door of the house on North Avenue in
Weaver. Witnesses identified Bokassa Montgomery of Weaver as one of the three
men. Police arrested Montgomery in
Indiana on Dec. 30, 1999, after he fled the state. Montgomery pleaded guilty to
murder, avoiding the possibility of capital punishment, and was convicted in
2001. Brooks’ indictment alleges that he
helped Vincent and Montgomery evade capture, supplying them with money and
transportation. Brooks pleaded guilty to hindering prosecution in December 2011
and was placed on probation. Testimony
is resuming in the trial today.
