Oxford mayor hospitalized

Oxford Mayor Leon Smith is being treated in the intensive care unit at a Birmingham hospital after falling ill at church Sunday.

The 74 Smith, became ill during Sunday morning’s Easter service at the Oxford first Baptist church, and was taken from the church by ambulance.  Smith was later admitted to the intensive care unit at Trinity Medical Center in Birmingham.  Hospital officials declined to release the condition of the mayor only confirming that he was a patient.
