Anniston police are investigating Almost two dozen reports
by Anniston residents that their vehicles’ windows were shattered by a pellet
gun over the weekend.
Anniston police say that more than 25 vehicles had been
damaged, and that reports were still being filed with police.
Vehicles were damaged on Christine, Leighton and Highland
avenues, along with 10 other streets.
Police say they have several leads on who committed the crimes,
but that providing proof of guilt could be difficult.
A majority of the damage was done between Saturday night and
Sunday morning, when 23 different incidents were reported. Police reports of
someone shooting into unoccupied vehicles and shattering windshields and
windows have been filed as far back as Dec. 14.
Anyone with information about the crimes should call
Anniston Police Department’s Investigative Division at 256-240-4000.
