Louis Bass |
The RMC board of directors announced Tuesday it had promoted
its chief financial officer, Louis Bass, to chief executive officer of the
Anniston hospital, effective Thursday. The promotion comes less than four
months after the resignation of RMC's previous CEO, David McCormack.
Since September, RMC has been headed by interim CEO Michael
Morgan, who is also managing director of Healthcare Management Partners. The
board hired the firm, which has a Birmingham office, in March to develop a
strategic plan for RMC. The firm also offers a hospital management program.
Greg Kernion, board chairman, said the board has been
considering Bass for the promotion since it hired Morgan. Kernion said Bass has
been working alongside Morgan to implement the hospital's strategic plan.
Bass, has worked at RMC for more than 16 years. Prior to
serving as chief financial officer, Bass worked as assistant vice president of
finance and corporate compliance officer. Bass came to RMC from Lloyd Noland
Hospital in Birmingham, where he held the positions of chief financial officer
and director of finance for 11 years.
The board also promoted Joe Weaver to CEO of RMC
Jacksonville and chief operating officer of Northeast Alabama Regional
Healthcare System. Weaver, will report directly to Bass.
Weaver has worked at RMC for more than five years, serving
as chief operating officer at the Anniston hospital. He has also overseen the
Jacksonville hospital since RMC bought it in January 2013.
