Tanker Crash shuts down interstate



Traffic is  back to normal today on Interstate 59 near Reece City in Etowah County.  An overturned truck spilled large amounts of fuel when it crashed Thursday.  Emergency officials closed a stretch of the interstate in eastern Alabama for the massive cleanup.
The southbound lanes of I-59 were opened up around midnite Thursday night, but the northbound lanes remained closed until early this morning.  Officials say you can expect one lane of traffic in the southbound lanes between mile markers 188 and 189 today as cleanup continues.
Gadsden-Etowah Emergency Management oficials said the tanker was carrying 8,000 gallons of gasoline when it overturned.   C  The owner of the truck sent pumper trucks to siphon the remaining gasoline.
