Sylacauga police investigating two violent crimes

Sylacauga police are investigating two violent crimes that happened within hours of each other Wednesday and Thursday.
The first incident happened Wednesday at 9 p.m. An 18-year-old female and 21-year-old male – neither of whom has been identified – were sitting in their car when an unknown assailant described as a black male approached their vehicle and fired two shots from a handgun.
The victims fled with the vehicle to Coosa Valley Medical Center. The woman was treated and released, while the male was transported to a Birmingham hospital. According to reports, he is still in the hospital but in stable condition.
A few hours later, at roughly 1 a.m., a 36-year-old man was found stabbed in a vehicle.
A Sylacauga police officer pulled up to a truck that was in a business parking lot near Old Birmingham Highway. The driver drove a short distance and stopped, at which point three men ran away from the vehicle.
Upon investigation, the officer found the victim with multiple stab wounds. He was transported to a Birmingham hospital. According to police, the incident likely stems from an argument between the victim and one of the suspects from inside the vehicle.
Both cases are currently under investigation by the Sylacauga Police Department.
