Blount County teacher indicted on sex charges

Ashley Parkins Pruitt

A jury has indicted a Blount County teacher accused of having sexual contact with three students.
28 year old Ashley Parkins Pruitt, turned herself in to authorities last November. She has been indicted on five counts. She is charged with two counts of sex acts with a student, one count of sexual contact with a student, and two counts of providing porn to a minor.
She's accused of having sex with one victim in her car at a public park and engaging in a sex act with another student in that victim's car. Pruitt is also accused of using the SnapChat app to send nude pictures of herself to the students and set up meetings with them.
Blount County Schools Superintendent Jim Carr said the alleged victims did not attend Appalachian High School where Pruitt works as a P.E., language arts and English teacher.
Carr said Pruitt is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. He said Pruitt has been working at Appalachian High for one year. She previously taught at Locust Fork and Susan Moore high schools, which are both in the Blount County Schools system.
The judge has not yet set a trial date.
If convicted, Pruitt will have to register as a sex offender.
