Etowah County receives funding from FEMA

Etowah County has been chosen to receive funding to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the area.
The selection was made by a national board headed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency and consists of representatives from the Salvation Army; American Red Cross; the Jewish Federations of North America; Catholic Charities, USA; National Council of Churches of Christ in the U.S.A.; and United Way Worldwide.
United Way of Etowah County put together a local board, which will be made up of representatives from local government and various social service agencies. The board will determine how the money awarded to Etowah County is to be split among emergency food and shelter programs run by service organizations in the area. The local board is responsible for recommending agencies to receive money and any additional funds available under this phase of the program. The Phase 32 Award is $39,468.
