Childersburg man charged


Clinton Murray Johns

A 29 year old Childersburg man turned himself in to the Talladega County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday after a warrant for two felonies was issued against him.
According to investigators, Clinton Murray Johns faces two counts of unlawful breaking and entering into a vehicle that stem from an incident in the early morning hours of Feb. 16 at Glynn Smith Buick GMC in Sylacauga.
Investigators say He cut the catalytic converters off a new Toyota Tacoma and Toyota Tundra.
dealership employees didn’t discover the missing parts until they attempted to move the vehicles and noticed them making loud noises.
the incident prompted the employees to go back and review surveillance footage that showed the suspect’s vehicle at the dealership around the time of the incident.
Investigators say approximately $3,600 worth of damage was done to the vehicles, and dealership employees say the total cost to fix the vehicles totaled roughly $4,600.
Johns was transported to the Talladega County Jail.
District Judge Jeb Fannin set the bond for Johns at $5,000.
