Police chase leads to death in cycle crash

An attempted traffic stop, by an Etowah County deputy, led to the pursuit of two motorcycles Tuesday night.
The pursuit began at approximately 7:50 p.m. when two motorcycles failed to stop near Miller Hollow Road and Highway 77, Attalla.
One of the motorcycles crashed into another vehicle on Highway 77 near the on-ramp of Interstate 59, close to the Petro truck stop. Two individuals, a male and female, on the bike were both ejected and injured during the crash. The male driver was flown from the scene of the incident to a Birmingham hospital where he later died.
The female rider was transported to local hospital. She is wanted for warrants in St. Clair County and charges are pending in Etowah County.
Charges will stem from drugs, drug paraphernalia, guns, fake law enforcement badges and brass knuckles that were discovered in a backpack in the male and female's possession.
The driver of the second motorcycle -- 31-year-old Timothy Neil Walden -- continued an attempt to elude deputies after the first bike wrecked. Walden was later stopped and apprehended by Attalla police. He is wanted for warrants in Marshall County.

The identity of the individuals and additional information will be released when pending warrants are obtained in Etowah County.
