Walmart announced Tuesday that it plans to end health care
benefits for 30,000 part-time employees and hike premiums for other employees
beginning after the first of the year.
According to an Associated
Press story, The nations largest employer will cut the
benefits for employees who work fewer than 30 hours a week. The company
promised to help employees who are losing their benefits to find new health
care options.
According to a Wall
Street Journal story, the retailer was looking at an increase of $500
million in health care costs for its 1.3 million associates.
