The Interstate 759 extension in East Gadsden is not included
in the area’s 25-year proposed transportation plan because of the state’s “no
build” option for the project.
A blueprint outlining area transportation projects for the
next 25 years will be unveiled Tuesday at Gadsden’s Senior Activity Center.
A draft of the Gadsden-Etowah Long Range Transportation Plan
Update will be available for public comment from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday in
the Alaco Room at the Senior Activity Center, 623 Broad St.
This will be the last public meeting to comment on the
Metropolitan Planning Organization plan before it is presented to the MPO for
approval and then to state and federal transportation officials for their
approval.
Officials say that residents who want the I-759 project to
continue still should come to the meeting and voice support for the project
since comments are noted in the final draft of the plan.
