The Jacksonville State University board of trustees plans to
meet May 8 to select a successor to outgoing President Bill Meehan.
Meehan announced his retirement last summer and plans to
leave July 1. His successor will be the institution's 12th president.
The trustees' meeting will be in Houston Cole Library and is
open to the public. Earlier this month trustees interviewed three finalists for
the job, giving each a day to spend on campus and meet with faculty, staff and
students.
The finalists are:
— Carl A. Stockton, 57, provost and senior vice president
for academic affairs at the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
— John M. Beehler, 59, dean of business at Robert Morris
University in Pittsburgh.
— Randall W. Hanna, 56, former chancellor of the Florida
College System.
A university spokeswoman said the trustees are expected to
name the next president during the meeting.
