Gadsden police say that A man was hit by a car Saturday
night outside Villa Fiesta Restaurant on Rainbow Drive by another man who chose
to dine and run. Police say The victim
was walking across the parking lot of the restaurant about 6:20 Saturday
evening. to meet his family for dinner. The victim told police he saw a
restaurant employee yelling for another man walking toward a tan Ford to stop.
The victim was walking toward that Ford when the driver began to back out,
knocking him to the ground. The victim,
who said he has had back surgeries in the past, refused medical treatment at
the scene and said a family member would take him to Riverview Regional Medical
Center. The restaurant employee said the driver left the restaurant without
paying for his meal. Employees were able to get the license tag number, which
was registered to a vehicle in Columbia, Tenn. The investigation is ongoing.
